Solver Development – Intern

USA

Who We Are

GT, a leading multi-physics CAE simulation software provider, develops a suite of integrated solutions that guides and accelerates the engineering transformation of today’s products in the transportation, power generation, and industrial equipment industries.

At Gamma Technologies, our people are the driving force behind our success. We are looking for Solver Development – Intern. We are looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You should be comfortable working both collaboratively within a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.

What You Will Do

With our solver development team, you will contribute to the creation of advanced mathematical models used to simulate fluid flow, thermal dynamics, mechanical, electrical, magnetic, chemical, and control systems. Your main responsibility will be to integrate COOLPROP, a third-party library for refrigerant fluid property evaluation, into our solver. This integration will improve the precision and efficiency of thermodynamic property calculations in our simulations.

To successfully complete this task, you will become familiar with the solver code infrastructure, ensuring smooth and effective integration. This role offers you valuable exposure to the solver development process, giving you insight into how mathematical models are designed and implemented in engineering software.

  • Integrate the COOLPROP library to evaluate fluid properties of refrigerants

What You Will Bring

  • Enrolled in a degree program in mechanical engineering, applied mathematics, physics, or a related field (Master’s or PhD enrollment preferred)
  • Background in programming languages for scientific computing (FORTRAN, C, C++)
  • Background in numerical methods for engineering problems
  • Strong interest and background in mathematics
  • Familiarity with thermodynamic property calculations is a plus

 What we Can Offer You

  • This is a part-time internship opportunity offering 24 hours per week, with three days in our collaborative workspace where you’ll connect with mentors and fellow team members for hands-on learning experiences
  • Dynamic and highly talented team of experts
