The positions of engineering intership could involve a variety of tasks related to applicaton engineering and software development and testing. Please note that this position is not for a summer internship, but rather for an internship of a contiguous semester and summer, such that there is a work period of approximately 7 to 8 months.
Work role varies quite a bit as demands change and depending on the experience of the candidate, but typically would include some or all of the following:
1) Learning fundamental simulation skills with GT-SUITE.
2) Testing and documenting new features implemented in the software. This may include both physical modeling analysis or issues related to usability of the software.
3) Project work with the software and external analysis to establish behavior patterns, sensitivity, and baselines. Such studies may precede software development or may be used in conjunction with software testing to ensure valid behavior.
4) Some modest coding needs, such as Excel Visual Basic macro.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATONS
- Mechanical engineering major
- Active enrollment in a BS or MS degree program
- Completion of 2nd year (sophomore) by the start of the internship period.
- 3.4 / 4.0 or higher GPA
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Interest in automobile engineering
- Hands-on experience in working with cars and other mechanical systems.
- Experience and/or interest in simulation and physical modeling
