IT Intern – Helpdesk

Gamma Technologies, LLC (GT) is looking to hire a Computer Science student in a related IT field for a summer internship for an IT Helpdesk Support position in Westmont, Illinois.

The position of IT Intern is to support the staff by providing employees with helpdesk support and computer setup in an integrated, high-tech work environment. The IT intern candidate should have a passion for technology, collaboration, and creative problem-solving. The intern will actively contribute to meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior leadership. The knowledge gained during the internship will provide the essential skill set to move into a professional career in IT. This position is not remote and will require one to be On-Site.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties such as fulfilling help desk tickets, setting up computers, and working with computer applications.
  • Assist in the troubleshooting and repair of desktop computers and laptops.
  • Support IT staff in room and audio/visual setup.
  • Under IT staff guidance, perform computer imaging, staging, and installation.

 Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program, majoring in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar.
  • Basic understanding of how networks work.
  • Good understanding of computer hardware.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.

Desired:

  • Troubleshooting skills of common IT hardware and software issues
  • Good customer service and collaboration skills; capable of effectively interfacing with a workforce with varying technology aptitudes.
  • Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing
  • Proficient in using software applications, especially Microsoft Office/Windows
  • Prior Linux Experience
