IT Support Assistant: GT is currently seeking candidates for a part time position, full-time, or part-time with potential transition to full-time after graduation within the next 6 months, to aid in our IT and software development process. Position will allow growth in IT and related fields. Responsibilities of the position are diverse, including:
- Provides assistance in the use of personal computer hardware, software, and specialized computer technology.
- Automated software building and subsequent quality control tests and failure notification
- Tests Programs, both GT-Suite and In-house tools
- IT (servers, hardware, network, automated backups, some web, etc.).
- Sets up and configures desktop computers, peripherals and accounts assigning security level
- Provides basic troubleshooting, repair and maintenance for computer equipment
- Debugs computer output.
- Installs software (In-house, and Third Party tools) and installs and repairs hardware and peripherals.
- Maintains systems, databases and web pages.
- Release engineering, including versioning and final product preparation
Position’s primary focus may be in the areas of computer operations, user and desktop support (hardware and software), helpdesk, and data management. Performs a variety of moderately complex information technology support duties. Monitors, operates, or coordinates and assists others in the operation of computer hardware, software, and peripherals in order to achieve desired results. Utilizes computer equipment, software and diagnostic tools to perform a broad range of assistance. Equipment maintenance and repair, and computer operations assignments. Updates supervisor on status of projects or technical issues. Exercises judgment and in selecting and applying procedures correctly, and determines when to refer problems to the supervisor or next level of support.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Technology / Information Technology or similar degree program with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Alternatively, a BS degree in another engineering, science, or math major with a GPA of 3.0 plus demonstrate equivalent experience in IT field.
Desirable Experience: Software Testing, Automated Build Systems, General Programming, Scripting (Perl, Python Bash, Windows), Familiarity with Linux, Networking, Hardware, and experience in customer service.
