Gamma Technologies, LLC (GT) is looking for a creative, talented, and highly motivated customer facing DevOps Engineer to join our growing back-end and distributed computing team. This is an agile development position with open collaboration and communication.
Position Summary:
Our new DevOps Engineer will be responsible for development and improvement of our deployment pipelines and compute cluster automation; working side-by-side with the support engineers to assist our customers, large and small, with their installations of GT Distributed Computing platform; helping the development team to implement managed online services in a way that allows seamless integration with the mainstream cloud providers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Under the guidance of application support engineers, help customers to resolve issues related to operation of in-house GT Distributed Computing platform instances.
- Design and implement automation for compute clusters and deployment workflows.
- Become a subject matter expert in all topics related to operations of GT Distributed Computing platform and managed services.
- Collaborate with the development team and application support engineers on software requirements and application design.
- Thoroughly test your solutions and take full responsibility for their quality.
- Share your knowledge through mentoring, reviewing code, and taking part in design discussions.
- Follow the company software development processes.
- Study new technologies to remain technically current.
Required Qualifications:
- BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in an IT environment, setting up and supporting various systems and configurations.
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Minimum 1 year of programming experience using Python or Linux shells.
- Good knowledge of Linux system administration and troubleshooting.
- Practical knowledge of Docker and related container technologies used in CI/CD.
- Excellent communication skills: be able to clearly explain technical concepts to a diverse audience
Desirable Qualifications:
- Direct experience with customer support.
- Practical experience working with one of the mainstream cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Professional software development experience utilizing compiled languages: Java, Rust, Go, C++, C.
- Experience with HPC technologies: Slurm, LSF, PBS.
