Application Engineer: Engine Performance

For our office in Prague, Czech Republic, Gamma Technologies, LLC (GT) is seeking an Application Engineer: Engine Performance with a strong work ethic, sound judgment, and a willingness to develop a long-term career with us.

Engineering simulation software called GT-SUITE is created, marketed, and sold by Gamma Technologies. All major automakers successfully use GT software for many years, and most of cars / vehicles around us include parts designed by GT. Our products support the development of environmentally friendly, cost-effective products by our clients in the automotive, aerospace, and marine sectors.

Position Summary

We are looking for an innovative, gifted, and self-motivated application engineer to join our Application Engineering and Support Group. This individual will assist our customers in getting the most out of our software and will use the information gained from these interactions to help us make improvements to our software on a continuing basis.

To be more precise, we want to expand our team of Engine Application Engineering. The charge exchange, combustions & emissions, and acoustics areas of concentration for this team’s software applications are customer support and software design.

We are searching for a committed, driven, and autonomous person to support our efforts in Europe and our European Team in Prague, which works closely with offices throughout the world.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with customers that use our software to design and analyze their systems in the field of engine simulation, on topics such as:
    • Charge exchange
    • Combustion & Emissions
    • Real-time simulations
    • Acoustics
  • Support of evaluation projects for potential new customers
  • Application of the software for the analysis of new drive systems (e.g.  fuel cells), alternative fuels (hydrogen, e-fuels, biofuels)
  • Support of internal software development and validation of new models and features
  • Develop customer tailored simulation workflows and methodologies using GT-SUITE
  • Conducting training courses
  • Participation in specialist conferences and working groups

Education, Experience and Skills

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

  • University degree (automotive, mechanical, process, aerospace engineering, etc.)
  • Extensive knowledge in charge exchange, combustion, acoustics & thermodynamics
  • Strong knowledge of 1D engine simulation in GT-POWER (alternatively WAVE, Boost)
  • Proficient in spoken and written English
  • Interdisciplinary thinking and acting, independent, structured way of working as well as teamwork, resilience and flexibility
  • Willingness to occasionally travel in Europe and internationally
  • Programming skills are an advantage (Matlab, Python, etc.)
  • Experience with 3D CFD is an advantage
