Learn about GT’s innovative process to virtually test battery packs for thermal runaway, and predict battery life and SOH with different thermal management strategies. The paper shows a real-life case study of the ability of system simulation to predict cell, pack, and vehicle performance over a wide range of modeling scenarios. AIAA-2019-4406

Numerical Modeling of Priming Event Peak Pressures in Liquid Propulsion Systems
When designing liquid rocket propulsion systems, an important criterion to minimize failure is studying the effects of priming and water hammer events throughout the system. This paper, co-authored by Penn State, demonstrates GT’s ability to simulate water hammer events to minimize liquid rocket propulsion system failure. It includes validation work and comparisons to past analysis work. AIAA-2019-4123

Simulation of Aircraft Fuel System with Complex 3D Tank Geometry using a 1D Flow Solution
Fuel system modeling and simulation is of critical importance to ensure sufficient supply of fuel to the propulsion system. This paper demonstrates GT’s capability to simulate the entire fuel system, with particular focus on efficient and accurate capturing of multiphase dynamics, including planar sloshing to predict fuel supply. AIAA-2019-4360
